As we edge closer to the official beginning of summer, we are left wondering if the spring showers have already left for the year! Our drip and overhead irrigation systems continue to keep our crops sprightly, while yesterday’s light rain provided a rejuvenating dose of cool relief to farmers and vegetables alike!

Last week Serenbe Farms continued to foster its relationship with the local community through hosting an energetic group of youth from Douglasville-based non-profit Inner Harbour. Through an exchange of knowledge and labor, the children and teenagers gain insight into food production, while learning to apply farming concepts in their daily life.

Also, we were very lucky to have a two-day volunteer from Tennessee last week. April lent her strong arms to shoveling mulch, her eye for beauty to designing flower bouquets for market and her gentle hands to planting okra. A special thanks to her and all of our regular volunteers!

Upcoming Events: Mark Your Calendars!

Kids day. Bring your beloved little ones to our second Kids Day next Wednesday, June 21st from 10AM-12PM. There will be a hayride around the farm, storytelling, arts and crafts, and much more educational fun! Please email or call to reserve your spot, or meet us at the farm at 10AM. We will have supervision, but parents are welcome to join. This event is $5/child.

Artists and Farmers Market – June 24th. As you may know, every fourth Saturday of the month from 8AM to 12PM, Serenbe Farms invites local artisans and crafts people to join us at our weekly market. This month we look forward to local jams and jellies, jewelry, clothing, natural bath and body products, and more! We set up shop in the green across the street from the Blue Eyed Daisy on Selborne Lane in the Serenbe Community. We’d love to see you there!

Summer Solstice Celebration. After our weekly market on Saturday, June 24th, Serenbe Farms is heralding in the summer season with an on-site festival from 5PM to 9PM. Look forward to a potluck (open to the general public), hayrides, live music, a fun art project, evening bonfire, and much more!

See you on the farm,

Farmer Coby and the Hearty Crew
